Pottery Care

Food Safety

My pottery is completely handmade in my Vancouver, Washington studio using lead-free and food-safe stoneware clays and glazes sourced in the United States. All products are kiln-fired to vitrification and will not absorb moisture.

Dishwasher, Microwave, and Oven-safe

My stoneware ceramic products can be used in dishwashers and microwaves and are reliably oven-safe to 400°F/204°C. However, care should be taken to avoid rapid temperature changes, such as moving it from a cold environment or room temperature straight into the oven. It’s best to start it off in a cold oven and let it heat up gradually. In addition, stoneware pottery is not meant to be used on a gas or electric stovetop.

Utensils

If you use metal cooking utensils, spoons, or metal scrubbers, there is a risk of product damage (especially with matte glazes). Using wood and silicone utensils as well as soft sponges and non-metal scrub pads will help minimize scratches and ensure long life.

Washing

After receiving your items, simply wash with liquid dish detergent and running water before using it for the first time, using a soft sponge. Avoid submerging your stoneware in water for long periods of time and allow to dry before using again.
