Damp Box

Here’s a picture of the damp box I made for my home studio. I poured a plaster slab into the bottom of a plastic box and moisten the slab with water when I need to add things to it.

A damp box for pottery is a container, often a plastic bin with a lid, that helps keep work-in-progress clay pieces moist and workable for extended periods. It typically features a layer of pottery plaster at the bottom, which when dampened with water acts like a sponge to maintain humidity. This allows potters to work on pieces over days or even months without the clay drying out.
